UN Police Day

UN Police Day is a special event preceding the 28th Annual IAPTC Conference. Held on 3 November 2024, this day is dedicated to honoring the commitment and contributions of UN Police in maintaining global Peace & Security. The event will feature keynote speeches, panel discussions, and interactive sessions with International Police Officials and Experts. Attendees will gain insights into the critical role of UN Police in peacekeeping operations and explore strategies for enhancing their effectiveness in evolving security landscapes.     Key Speakers

    Police Commissioner Faisal Shahkar

    Pakistan

    Commissioner Shahkar is the current UN Police Advisor. He is a graduate of the University of London, United Kingdom with a master’s degree in law (L.L.M). He also holds a master’s degree in political science from the University of the Punjab, Pakistan. He is fluent in English and Urdu. Mr. Shahkar has more than nine years of experience with the United Nations at Headquarters and the field where he most recently served as Team Leader within the United Nations Standing Police Capacity (2020-2021).

    Jean-Pierre Lacroix

    France

    Mr. Jean-Pierre Lacroix is the Current Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations. He brings to the position over 25 years of political and diplomatic experience, with a focus on multilateral organizations, and on United Nations activities and programmes.
